Gibbs adjustable

Dear friends,

I've read some good things about the Gibbs adjustable DE especially how smoothly it shaves. Some people rate it above the FatBoy and slim, I made an e-bay search and it came out with two adjustables. A no. 15 and a no.17. What is the difference between the two and which is the best adjustable gibbs to buy. Is there somewhere I can read about the Gibbs razor and inform myself?

Myatt Minor razor

I found a picture online of a razor I've not heard about before.

From what I can tell Myatt was/is a British company based in Birmingham, who patented their first safety razor in 1929. The Minor allegedly was manufactured in 1930, and uses diamond shaped studs to locate the blade.
What I find interesting is that the Myatt Minor is a composite razor - the top cap and handle is made from steel according to the sources I found online, but the base plate is bakelite.

Timeless VS Blackbird... fight!

The Timeless (.095) and Blackbird both arrived in my den last week and I've had a chance to try them both twice with a Polsilver blade

Both razors are extremely high quality and feature perfect machining.

The Timeless is a bit more aggressive than I was expecting, but not too bad. It's a big beast of a razor and I love the unique look. I feel like I could break a window out with this thing. Lots of weight, but still nicely balanced.

The Blackbird has a much different character. It's feels like it's built for speed and has that exotic sports car vibe going. It took me a minute to find the correct cutting angle (steep is where it like to be). There is a bit of a learning curve with this guy, but holy cats, it gave me perhaps the best shave of my life. Perfect.

The better shave experience...? so far it's the Blackbird for me... but again, I only have 2 shaves with each and they are both quite different!

Phil said that the new SS Paradigm will have less blade feel then the Titanium version, compared to what.? How does the titanium compare to a SB Blackbird , or a Timeless 68, 95 in SB or OC, or Wolf? I would like have a comparison, I would like to be an informed consumer since this razor will be priced at $250.00.

i would love it if any of you gents that have the Titanium would give a comparison review.

The Rockwell 6S is out of stock with retailers, and is no longer listed on the company's website.  What is listed and available are the 6C and 2C.  Has Rockwell discontinued the 6S?

Hello everyone,

Do these modern stainless steel razors provide a better shave than Gillette aristocrats, specifically the 1946/1947 and the 1948-50?

Parker Variant Maintenance

I got a Parker Variant several weeks ago..what a great razor. It's the first adjustable I've used since a Slim many years ago. With inaccessible, moving parts inside exposed to water/soap, what is a good maintenance plan to keep it working well and maximize its life? Thanks for any suggestions.

Score from the Wild: Aristocrat #15, Australian Set

I continue to make excellent finds in the wild.

Yesterday: the Gillette 1948 closed-comb Aristocrat, "Australian Set" #15 (same as the #21); the razor lightly peppered with spotting all over the Rhodium plating, but still, in excellent working order and case in good-ish condition. The blade case was missing, but I has one in a battered old case, so I simply put it inside this case and BINGO. Not bad for something going on 70 years old.[Image: UHCrNuY.jpg]

In US dollars? Shall I tell you? Ok. $12. Yep.

Wolfman Guerrilla : Aluminum Anodized

Charcoal vs Timeless vs Guerrilla???

So I looked unless I missed it I didn’t see this post, but I’m on mobile so might have.

I used to have a few razors but had to sell most due to wife’s medical bills. I’m finally able to get myself a nice razor again and not sure what to go with. I used to have a SS Wolfman SB (standard gap) that I loved and gave me a great shave but was just a touch to aggressive for me, but I could deal. Currently using a v2 Alumagoose and it works well for me with Feather Guard or super. Got an ATT Slant combo and it seems to leave my skin raw, no nicks but tons of AF burn. Not sure if it’s the Slant or just too aggressive or what tried a few blades and some are worse, so guessing it’s not for me.

So trying to figure out which way to go since I can really only get one and can’t experiment. I always enjoyed the build quality of my Wolfman and how well it did with holding the black solid and no wavy blade. So I’m leaning that way but since I stopped reading a lot Charcoal and Timeless are not here and look rather good.

So if I could find something just the same or a touch less aggressive than a Wolf WR1 SB with good build quality that would be great. Also I’m a head shaver too so if the Razor was on the lighter side I would be upset (I always dreamed of a Ti Wolfman SB, but alas not likely to happen).

Also if anyone would let me borrow one of them I would be glad to cover shipping.

Thank you for your time and opinions.

EDIT:
Guess I should have added Blackbird in there too but haven’t had any experience with them at all.

Wolfman Guerrilla Open comb question

So I've got the Guerrilla in the SB and it's not as efficient as I normally like in a razor. I've got mine up for sale and I'm thinking of picking up a OC version as I liked the razor as far as the way it felt in hand.  So how would it compare to some of my favorite more efficient razors in my den. Timeless .68 OC and .95 OC, Charcoal Level 2 and 3 OC, British Aristocrat OC, El Jefe, R41 and Ever Ready Streamline and Gem MMOC? If it comes close to any of these razors with the exception of the .68 Timeless which is the least efficient of the group of razors I listed then I'll pull the trigger on the OC Guerrilla.

I'd really appreciate your input on this.

Thanks!
