Timeless .95 VS ATT H1

I recently purchased my first Timeless head. I went with the scalloped head and .95 base plate, polished finish. The fit and finish is top notch with no tooling marks, very very clean.
In anticipation of my new unit arriving, I didn't shave for four days. I whipped up some lather, Local Gent California Barber, and loaded a Gillette SharpEdge Yellow. Something that I noticed, straight away, is how the blade is held in the head with a more pronounced bend/ curve than my Above The Tie heads. The blade angle reminds my of the Rockwell 6S and it shaved very similar to the Rockwell with the 6 plate.
First pass, WTG, felt much milder than I expected. Shave angle was pretty intuitive but also had a smaller sweet spot than my ATT H1 or H2. Second pass, XTG, again very smooth with less audible feedback than ATT.
Third pass, ATG, was freaking amazing!!! Much smoother but again the angle was a little finicky. A few touch ups and I had a BBS level shave, without much effort.
I will say that the ATT H1 has more feedback and when going ATG, on the back of my head (head shaver) It's easier to feel the blade angle.
At this point, I'd say the Timeless is the winner on my cheeks and ATT on the dome. I wanted you to see the blade exposure and angle of the bade, in the heads. Both are damn fine Razors.

Found this Gillette Y2 president in excellent condition. A nice addition to my vintage Gillette collection.

7 O'Clock CLOSED comb

I have one or two 7 O'Clock razors and they are each open comb, but as part of a bit of a junk haul recently, there was a closed comb version with the Gillette thin handle. I have no reason to believe that the handle didn't go with the baseplate and cap. It's all a bit tarnished, condition 'fair'. There was an entire age of gunk build up shared on all components, and the scratches on the underside of the baseplate matched where the handle goes on.

I have never seen such a razor or an image of such a razor, and was just wondering if anyone has an example of a closed comb 7 O'Clock...with any kind of handle? I don't think it's a Frankenrazor, either. It seems somehow right.

Faulty Tradere Head on eBay

Quote:Just a heads up on this Tradere SB Head  00702 on eBay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tradere-S...606816?hash=item3d35063ee0:g:3aYAAOSwWxNYvJXs

The seller has it listed as "one side set that is slightly more aggressive than the other" believe me, its not, Its faulty.

How do I know? Well I piffed it to the seller. I offered it to pif it to a few people on other forums listing the fault.
The inside of the head has been machined as the blade never sat properly in the head, this why there is an unequal blade gap and not as the seller suggests that it has been intentionally set this way.

Probable eBay scam listings today.

There's a lot of bogus listings today. I reported half a dozen of them this morning.

All modernish hard to get safety razors. A Jürgen Hempel handle. All listed by sellers with zero feedback in China.

Descriptions look like copies of real listings.
Prices are 10 - 20% of going rates.

Beware!

Looks too good to be true and it probably is.

A couple Webers and 2011 R41 razors.

Seems oddly specific items and each listing is from a different account. All are free shipping from China. Probably a scam brothers.

Rockwell 6S - maiden voyage

6S arrived yesterday, too it for its first spin today.

Setup:

Plate 3
Blade:  GSB
Soap:  Stirling Piacenza
AS/Balm:  Stirling Piacenza

Initial impressions:

My first few strokes I didnt think I had the correct angle, and it felt like it wasnt cutting like it should.  Once I got it dialed in, the whisker reduction was what I would expect from the 3rd plate.  The 2nd pass was effortless, and I felt like I got somewhere between a BBS and DFS with 2 easy passes.  Couple things struck me about this razor:  1)  I rotate between keeping the sink basin filled with warm water and rinsing my razor off to clean, vs keeping my water running and rinsing that way.  The lather channels on this razor seem to clear better using the running water method.  Could've been the soap, but something to watch/keep on eye on moving forward.  2)  going back on a bare face to buff/clean up was MUCH smoother with this razor than any other I have ever used.  This step usually induces irritation for me, but not so with the 6s.

In summary, this was a very impressive 1st shave.  I am going to go to Plate #4 on Tuesday (my normal shave routine is Sunday, Tues, Thur) and explore the extra aggressiveness.  Having said that, Plate #3 would provide an outstanding shave experience for just about anyone (except some of us hardcore nuts on here).  This isn't anything groundbreaking that hasnt been discussed on here many times, just my initial thoughts on an outstanding piece of equipment.

Here it is on my Jurgen Hempel titanium handle:

Gillette Bostonian 1925 with case and shipper.

Note: I am not trying to sell this razor.

This is the triple-silver-plated Bostonian in excellent condition, complete with case, blade case, and shipper.

The date code (584809B) puts it at 1925. I have not seen the shipper for the silver Bostonian before. There is also an instruction leaflet.

The condition is truly superb and unbelievably there are no cracks in the handle. A few scuff marks on the blade case and cap, that's all.

The lining is very good, and the Gillette logo is perfect.

Excuse the not great quality photos Sad

Found this guy on EBay and contacted him directly. He has a few handles still on EBay but he is new to this stuff and very talented. Love the one that is SS and Brass and will be using this on the new brass General when it comes out. The one on my Rx is the adjustable handle. The end can be screwed out to make it longer. Very cool design.
PM me for his contact info.

Anyone with even passive interest in collector DEs knows the Gillette Double Ring is high on the bucket list of many.  Is this still true?  Who out there possesses one of these legendary razors besides (lucky) me?  I've recently seen at least a couple of owners so let's hear from ya...

Rocnel DE safety razor reviews???

Just wanted to see if anyone has tried their double edged razor and why there are no reviews available. It does look like like nice machining but no one posting reviews of it makes me ask. I am going to always stick with true machinists and I know Timeless has that. At least I can talk to Matt or any of the other brothers if needed. Just curious but I am absolutely not going to drop $175 just to test a razor. It may look good but that only sells things. I like products that perform and I do like to spend my money with proven things. Occasionally I will take a chance and I did that with Timeless. Not many reviews when I got one! Love it but still curious about the Rocnel. I enjoy people that do things at a high level but their product should prove that. Just saying. Not another business trying to lure us in with their affiliate. Just saying.

Someone besides people trying to sell must have used it! Just wondering if anyone has. No one on others forums have. I am just curious to how it shaves. Not trying to stir things and not trying to take away from the maker but I would really like to see honest reviews of it.

Gillette Adjustables

Hi guys, I am a new member here but not new to wet shaving. I am a daily user, and after much experimentation, I go with a SAS that is a one pass WTG shave. For weddings and such I go for the 3 pass shave, but on a daily basis it doesn't work for me. But I do like to collect razors. My favorite category to collect is the Gillette Adjustables. I came here to share a photo I just took of part of my collection. I took it because I haven't seen anything like it and what it depicts is my take on what the various models of Gillette Adjustables are. To me there are 18 different distinct models of Gillette Adjustables. Any questions or comments are greatly appreciated.

Here is one of the better ones from my collection. This came from a case of 5, I believe, that were sold by a drug store owner(?) who had them in a box in his garage. They sold on eBay I believe but I was late to the party and got it from a guy who got one of the five on eBay. I think I am remembering it correctly.

Stirling SS handles

So just received email from Stirling about stainless steel handles they are selling now. Available at discounted rates currently as they call it 'beta' version just because it's an initial launch.

They really look nice and different to me, anyone here was lucky enough to would have been part of any trial which might have happened for these handles?

Just looking for opinions before pulling the trigger here!

If anyone has used both the sb and the oc timeless razor heads in .95 blade would you please tell me if you notice any difference. I ordered the .68 and the .95 sb timeless and after trying both the .95 worked better for me shaved very close to my futur in terms of smoothness. I and returning the .68 sb plate and I am considering exchanging for the .95 oc plate. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Your preferred handle Weight?

Seems like all the new small batch handles (being made of SS) are a lot heavier than handles of the past.
For instance, using an Ikon OSS handle drastically changes the aggressiveness (feeling at least) of my Mühle R89. Not sure it actually increases the efficiency of the cutting action IME (at least so far I haven't noticed that because I still have the same number of passes to get BBS... I only notice my face is more sore afterward)

What's your desired handle weight?
